Dressing Pets- No, No, No
It would certainly seem that there are many people that love to dress their pets up for no specific reason at all. In many ways this has turned into a bit of a fashion amongst dogs. Paris Hilton has to be the most famous celebrity that does this as you rarely see her dog Tinkerbell in the same outfit twice. How far is it before it stops being nice and starts being a bit cruel?
The personal opinion that I have here is that if you are dressign a dog up then you are wasting your time as it makes the dog look very silly. On top of this the only dogs that can really be dressed up are the small little ones that look more like rats on stilts than they do dogs. Why is it, that many people simply cannot go a day without dressing their pets up?
A lot of the time people do it for competitions. Believe it or not there are actually a lot of fashion shows for the dogs and their clothes, its pretty sad really.
It is acceptable to dress your dog in a coat if it is cold because otherwise the animal could actually catch a cold which really could end up hurting the animal. All of these kionds of dogs would not be able to survive in the wild which could be why the people dress them up, they are more like fashion accessories than pets to many people.
The RSPCA are against this as well as they are saying that if you go too far it can be counted as being cruel to the animal. This is certainly understandable as boots for a dog could not only make it look stupid but cause its legs some serious damage. Before you know it the pet could have to have one of those vet referrals for something like animal dermatology or even animal ophthalmology.
The best advice is to sit down and think long and hard about whether or not the poor animal actually needs any of these stupid clothes. A coat is acceptable in the winter but anything else could be a bit stupid.
