It is always a fun and exciting time when you get a new puppy. Puppies melt your heart with their adorable antics and their adorable faces but as every new puppy owner soon learns there is one challenging aspect that they all must deal with and that is puppy house training.

House training a puppy can be difficult and frustrating sometimes. But we all need to remember that a puppy is still just a baby. He has not yet learned how to control himself and until he gets older to where he has some of the control he will need you to be loving and patient as you spend one on one time with him teaching him what is acceptable.

At the beginning you may need to take your puppy out as much as 2 to 3 times in an hour. That may sound like a lot but a little puppy does not yet understand how to control himself and the active playing that most puppies engage in creates urine. Nighttime may be better as a resting puppy will not need to go out as often. Do not wake a sleeping puppy just to go out to potty but rather just make sure and take him out as soon as you can after he wakes up.

Consistency is the most crucial part of potty training. Be consistent in taking him out on his leash to the same place every time. Be consistent about issuing the same commands such as “potty now” every time. And be consistent with your abundant praise and special treats when he does finally go.

After your puppy finishes his elimination chore reward him with lavish praise and treats. Try to make the house training experience as positive as as you can for your dog. If you are impatient or mean to your puppy as he is learning puppy house training your efforts will take longer as he will become fearful of not knowing what is demanded of him.

It is doubtful that you will be able to be with your puppy all the time so when you need to be away from your puppy you should put him in a crate. Puppies and dogs are natural den animals and they like to have a small home of their own. Also, puppies will rarely dirty their own place so a crate will assist you in teaching your puppy how to control himself.

Consistency is the most crucial part of training. Make sure that you use a consistent command and take him to the same place every outing so that there is no confusion for him. Making the experience a positive one for him will also help him to learn quicker and you will be finished with your potty training earlier.

Puppy house training is the most important aspect of owning a new puppy and you can train your puppy in just a few short weeks if you are consistent and positive about the training. You will then be able to enjoy your puppy more as he gets bigger and you will never have to concern yourself with accidents in the house again.

Effective puppy training should incorporate crate training for many reasons, it should be started the very first night your new puppy is welcomed to her new home. Crate training puppies isn’t as difficult as you might think. It’s also one of the major foundations on which all other dog training can rest.

It can be a great benefit for your new puppy and you if you have a secure place for her to keep herself company while you are busy, or while you are asleep. The crate can give your new puppy the safety and comfort she needs. Crate training also helps to eliminate the separation anxiety that a lot of new puppies experience. It helps you by letting you have piece of mind, knowing that your house isn’t being destroyed, that your floors are not being soiled and that your new puppy is safe in general.

Our oldest son was the first one to aquaint me to the benefits of crate training puppies. He had gotten a young puppy and it was getting into everything, and using the bathroom everywhere. He was living in an apartment and it was starting to become an issue having his puppy running lose while he was at work or at night, because the little puppy was chewing everything and relieving himself all over the house. While waking up and stepping in you know what, he decided to look into crate training. Seeing the benefits that he enjoyed was enough to convince me of the importance of crate training for puppies. His puppy was much easier to get along with, and so was my son!

You will need to introduce your puppy to the crate in a non threatning way. Do not make her go into the kennel if she doesn’t want to go. Food can play a big role in a lot of training techniques. It can be used in a very simple but important role in crate training. In the introduction you will want to use a treat or a toy to coax her to investigate the crate. Before long she’ll view it as a good place, if you give her some time. After she has been introduced to the crate and she isn’t afraid of it, leave the crate door open, and occasionally drop small chunks of her favorite treat in the crate. You can also make a short trail of treats leading in to the crate if your puppy is still a little scared about going in.

It’s also helpful to leave a favorite toy or two in the crate. As she begins stepping into the crate with no coaxing, you should flood her with affection. Remember to give positive affection when your puppy is in her crate.

Always keep in mind, when crate training puppies, you should have a key word that your puppy can learn. I use the word “Kennel”. Whenever your puppy gets into her crate you should say the key word. Saying the word will help her to associate her good behavior with your key word. Be consistent with the key word and the training, and in no time at all, your puppy will be crate trained.

The key to house training your puppy to make the transition from going to the bathroom on paper indoors to holding it and waiting until it can go outside is a bit of common sense and outdoor manners. Going from the papers to the outside means you need to carry your puppy to the right area. Little dogs can be easily carried outside, however you may need to get a carrier to transport bigger dogs if you do not have the strength. Once you have taken the dog outside without any accidents occuring and you are face to face with city block after block, where do you begin to go?

It should go without saying, that all areas frequented by people, including flower beds, children’s play area, city trees and other landscaping are all off limits. Letting a male dog lift his leg on somebody’s garbage can or other things that might be touched by humans is not very nice. Make sure you are properly prepared to invest a lot of time outdoors with your puppy potty training. A puppy who is scared will be unable to relax enough to go potty and also a distracted puppy may find too much stimuli prevents it from wanting to go outside too.

Can your pup focus enough amidst all the noise of traffic and people to ever learn to use the concrete? With training, yes. One technique for outdoor potty training sessions is known as ‘curbing’ and entails having your puppy do his business over a curb or into a gutter. Place the rear end of your puppy over the curb and let it do it’s business. Give gentle and somewhat quiet praise to your puppy while he is going then praise with exuberance afterwards. Just be aware that if you praise too much during the act, your puppy will get distracted and wriggly – not a good combination in mid-elimination.

When there is a mistake, don’t panic, just work on it next time and smile at people and pick up after your dog. You cannot drag the puppy away and reprimand him while he is still in the middle of going, rather just make certain he is in the correct location the next time. Make it become a habit and always praise your pup and eventually you will have success with your dog potty training. Life will be easier if you teach your pup to potty on cue. Once it’s about to start urinating or defecating, calmly say the cue words and praise your pup and after it’s done, praise it once again.

Other Training Options In The City

There are plenty of alternative potty areas for pet owners who live in urban settings that they may not even have considered like utilizing a fenced or walled off rooftop which may be more convenient than getting down to the street. Be sure the area is secured with a strong fence that pups can’t wriggle through. If there is a wall, you may want to keep the dog leashed to prevent the puppy from exploring the other side. A terrace is one other option that works well for larger dogs. Additionally, some buildings have a basement area or storage room that can double as a potty area, just choose a concrete or tiled area that’s easy to clean and hose off.

There are folks who have thought to put in gravel pits or fake and real grass strips on the patio for the puppy to use, but these certainly get soiled fast. You have to be very consistent with replacing the grass and cleanup when it is necessary to keep it clean enough so your dog will continue using them. The last point is to remember your neighbors as the smell can become pretty intolerant especially through the hot summer, so cleanliness is key. Dog house training, inside or out needs a little bit of time and patience, but it is well worth the effort.

Puppy training is important whether for fun or good behavior. During the process of teaching the puppy the fetch game, it is necessary that the treats are used alongside praise and there is a very good reason for this. The importance of praise hasn’t been firmly written on the chalkboard of your pup’s mind, so until it is, give your pup what is known to be a positive reward stimulus and that is food. You may be thinking, shouldn’t training always take place in the pup’s head and not their stomach and while this is true, they are learning a game.

Dog and puppy training can be a fun time for both you and your dog. Try to get at least three fetching games of ten minutes each, into each day for three days in a row. These fetching drills should be in addition to a five or ten minute walk on the leash, daily. We’re going to sneak in two commands while the puppy is having these “game times” and before it even realizes what’s happened, it will have been trained to respond to “come” and “sit”.

During your retrieving games, when your puppy has returned the play toy to you, place your left hand on its rear end and your right underneath its chin. Press down gently with the left hand while administering small pressure upwards with your right as you say the command ’sit’.

Makes For Good Puppy Behavior

Immediately after the puppy has been placed in the sitting position, shower him with praise and toss out the toy once more. When the puppy returns with the toy, withhold any praise until you have commanded, “sit” and have placed it in the sitting position. If the puppy should squirm from your grasp and you fail to get it properly seated, do not throw the play toy, do not praise and above all, do not give up. This will begin the process of a well trained dog and hence good puppy behavior.

Use the leash to bring the puppy back to you, say, “sit” and place the puppy in the sitting position, concluding each fetch-sit game with a tasty reward.

Around the time you wrap up the third session of the fetch-sit game, you may see that there is not much need for left hand pressure to encourage the puppy to sit. You have a 10-minute walk on leash still scheduled for each of the days, four through seven. The entire routine will be the same as on the preceeding days and keep four tidbits with you. As you lead the puppy outdoors, be sure to keep them securely in a pocket and out of scent range and also sight.

After you have ventured out on what the dog thinks is a routine walk, take out a treat and kneel to the dogs level, then say his name and follow up with the “come” command. Using the leash, carefully pull the puppy towards you. Give it the tidbit, and at the same time pour on the praise. By giving the tidbit with the praise, your puppy will begin to learn that praise is synonymous with the reward. These dog training and puppy training techniques can be followed in other areas of your training.

Puppy training begins with so many different aspects that relate to their overall development, including how to feed your puppy, housetraining, grooming tips and socialization. So what do we mean by that? Knowing how to socialize your puppy is necessary in order to give him a positive upbringing.

Growing into adulthood is a very important topic that should be taken into consideration. While it is true that wild animals survive without human care at all, a new puppy needs to be socialized successfully and have the desire and willingness to interact with people around it and know their owner is in charge.

Teaching Your Puppy Socialization

This socialization is accomplished by diligence, hard work and intelligent handling. If you want to have a sically acceptable, confident and intelligent pet, expose your puppy gently and patiently to a wide variety of external stimuli.

When a pet has a neglectful owner they become spooked easily, they bite in fear, back away when approached and will act socially unacceptably. The owners never took the time to show them what the world has to offer. Often these poor, neurotic animals are filed under the unfortunate status of ‘outdoor dogs’ since they have become virtually uncontrollable under normal living conditions as family pets.

Puppy socialization training includes exposure to noises, unfamiliar people and places, other animals, children, travel and other stress-like situations. Puppies may be cautious about unusual and unknown things. Their lack of confidence may be demonstrated by barking, backing away, whining, or acting with nastiness.

Reassuring your puppy, talking to it quietly, giving praise and coaxing it to explore the offending object or person, will teach your pup that there is nothing to fear. Each time it overcomes its anxiety, new self-confidence is developed and it will find its next unfamiliar situation less threatening. Reassurance is important in your puppy training techniques.

Your puppy’s exposure to people and children should be treated in a similar fashion. Many puppies are quite comfortable with all types of people, big or small, but just as many are timid when presented with unfamiliar faces. To encourage socialization and freindship, ask children and even strangers to play with your puppy. Kneeling to its level or sitting beside it on the floor, will eliminate some of the trepidation it might feel by their size or quickness of the children’s movements.

Your Child and Puppy

Very young children should be allowed to play with animals only under direct adult supervision. Remember to teach children that puppies are not toys and if they injure one it can easily affect how the puppy adjust to or reacts to children from that point on. Therefore, if your child is too young to understand the concept of gentleness, by all means wait before bringing a little pup into the household, or you may want to consider buying an adolescent puppy, 4 to 9 months old, rather than an infant one.

There are many aspects to training for a well adjusted pup and you don’t need to have a trainer. You can benefit from puppy and dog training online.

The wicker basket dog bed is one of the better choices for dog beds that have come along in a while. They are a wonderful, environmentally friendly home base for you dog. Wicker is easy to make any color of your choice and easy to keep clean. On top of those wonderful features its durable, an easily renewable source of material, easy to shape into almost any shape you want, and completely biodegradable when you do have to get rid of it. Wicker provides a stiff holder for the bed to stop the bed from becoming misshapen. However, wicker also has many other wonderful properties as we mentioned, and when paired with a good mattress makes a wonderful wicker basket dog bed.

All of the information above is just the basket portion of the bed, the mattress or pillow insert on which the dog sleeps is also amazingly versatile. It can come in many different fapics for the cover, including a fleece dog bed. The choices of fapic colors are also numerous. And then to further add choices, the materials inside the bed are many different types that can accommodate almost any need your dog can have. You can have pillow material, shredded foam, foam, memory foam or cedar shavings. All of these choices provide different benefits and different disadvantages that need to be weighed by each dog owner, to find which one works for them.

The mattress or bed portion of the wicker basket dog bed comes with a cover that allows for quick and easy clean up of the bed. Dog’t love dirt, dirty water, rolling in sand, dirt or grass, and many more activities that guarantee they are going to ping dirt into the house and onto their bed. This make is important to have a bed than can be easily cleaned. The wicker basket dog bed has a detachable mattress portion that has a detachable, easily washable cover. All you have to do is toss it in the washer.

While there are many other choices for beds, the wicker basket dog bed provides the most easily maintainable bed. This is not a small advantage, when you consider that you cannot toss the foam formed beds into the washer, you must use a furniture cleaner to get them clean. That is neither easy, nor convenient.

While the many choices provide you a way to find what makes your dog happy, the wicker basket dog bed increases you options with the many shapes and styles available. One style has the wicker that forms a overhead to allow for the dog to have his only enclosed space. Some dogs prefer that type of shape. My dog loves to sprawl on the bed so an open style is best for me. My friends dog loves to have the top open but sides that allow him to hide in his bed. There are hundreds of choices for people beds to accommodate our different styles and choices and there are finally choices for our dogs also.

Purchasing an indoor outdoor dog bed for your pet is a great investment. Most dogs generally enjoy taking a nap on a nice cozy dog bed but frequently dog beds are kept in the house. By purchasing an indoor outdoor dog bed you can give your dog a comfortable place to sleep both inside and outside of the house.

An indoor outdoor dog bed is specially designed to be able to tolerate your basic household conditions while being durable enough to be left out in the rain without it getting ruined. If you are not sure if your dog will sleep on a dog bed outside, purchase an indoor outdoor dog bed that you can ping inside for him to use as well.

Advantages Of An Indoor Outdoor Dog Bed

One great advantage to purchasing an indoor outdoor dog bed is that you can save money by only have to purchase one dog bed. Instead of buying two dog beds that both need to be cleaned and maintained now and again, you will only have to worry about taking care of one dog bed. The downside of the indoor outdoor dog bed is that you may find yourself carrying it back and forth frequently which may become annoying after awhile.

If your dog primarily enjoys sleeping on their dog bed inside it makes more sense to buy an indoor outdoor dog bed. This way he can enjoy his dog bed inside but for those few times you want him to be able to have it outside it is not a problem as the bed is durable enough to handle the outdoor conditions.

Many outdoor dog beds are raised. The frames of these beds are typically left outside but the pillow that sits in the frame can be pought inside as well. This type of indoor outdoor dog bed is really great because your pet can enjoy it in both places. Because it sits in a raised frame off of the ground it is less likely to get dirty which makes it a great option if you plan on pinging your dogs bed inside on a regular basis.

Indoor outdoor dog beds come in a variety of different shapes and sizes. They are made in a variety of different ways to that allow them to be left outside without getting ruined. Head to your nearest pet store to check out a few different varieties and see which one might work best for you.

If you have a large dog that enjoys spending time outside consider purchasing a dog outdoor large bed for them to enjoy. They can take a quick nap on their large outdoor dog bed while still enjoying the fresh air.

If it is a warm sunny day a large outdoor dog bed will be particularly nice for your pup as he or she will have plenty of space to stretch out during their nap. In the colder months dogs typically sleep in smaller balls so size might not be as much of an issue.

There are a number of large outdoor dog beds to choose from. Picking one that will best accommodate your dog can be a challenge. Each dog sleeps in their own unique way and there are beds designed to accommodate just about everything.

Different Types Of Large Outdoor Dog Beds

If your dog likes to sleep with their head propped up on something look for a large outdoor dog bed that has a bolster attached to it. Some dog beds will have a bolster that wraps around all edges of the dog bed which helps them to get extra cozy. Other styles of dog beds only have a bolster that wraps half way around the dog bed. This gives your dog some options. If your dog wants to just lay out flat or elevate their head they will be able to do so with ease in this type of dog bed.

Other large outdoor dog beds were simply designed to act as big pillows. They will be big enough to allow your dog to fully stretch out. If your dog likes to curl up in a ball during their nap they can do so as well. When curled up in a ball this type of big pillow bed will snuggle in around your pup which will help to keep them not only warm but cozy.

Another type of bed is the outdoor canopy dog bed. This type of dog bed provides a luxury environment for your dog as they stretch out to take a nap in a nice shady spot created by the canopy of the bed.

Many of the largest outdoor dog beds are just simple squares or rectangles that have some type of foam core inside of the cover. These are pretty basic and generally offer no frills for your dog. The bigger dog beds get the more expensive they can be so this can be a budget friendly option as well.

When you start to train a young puppy having the right dog crate is essential. When you take your puppy home, it will be unable to cope with the whole area of your house and it will be calm and happy in the perfect sized dog crate. Dog crates are also a fantastic way to housebreak a puppy. A puppy is easily trained to use the papers in a dog crate and is an invaluable dog training tool.

If you housetrain a puppy using a dog crate, they are an excellent solution if your pup becomes overexcited, as it will calm down in a crate. All you have to do is put your puppy inside the crate in order to help it relax. If your dog has to be left in the house unattended for a few hours, then having a crate is a stress-free way for you to be gone from the house and not worry about your puppy getting into trouble around the home, or soiling the carpet.

The crate contains your puppy’s food bowl and it will eat and not be distracted. Simply put the food bowl inside where it can focus on eating its meal.

Dog Crate Training Tips

1. When buying your crate, make sure that you have the right sized one according to your dog’s height and width. Housebreaking your puppy depends on you having the correct sized crate. If the box is too large, then your puppy may use the bathroom on one side, but keep sleeping on the other side, which defeats the purpose of crate training in terms of potty training.

2. If you have a fast-growing puppy, then consider buying a large crate that is meant for an adult dog, but has a divider built into it. This way you can divide the crate in half so that your puppy will be able to lie down comfortably and still be able to turn around if needed. A divided dog crate can also be used for your larger puppy by removing the division bracket.

3. One last aspect of using a dog crate is the type of bedding that you place on the floor. Some dog owners have noticed that their puppies still use the bathroom inside, even though the crate is the appropriate size for potty training. In most instances it turns out that the bedding that they laid down was a little too thick and had a tendency to induce urination in dogs.

Older dog crate training is not a problem either. There is so much information available for training older dogs and again using a crate is an invaluable dog training tool. Any problems crate training can be rectified when you follow instructions on the house training or potty training of your dog.

Potty training puppies can be a lot of fun with an attitude of healthy helpfulness. Take a look at a new puppy's mental health. Try to imagine what it is like for a puppy to be exploring in the world they call home. As far back as puppies remember may only be a few minutes ago. When training your puppy, remember this when they have an accident. Puppies want to please and when that memory gets around to charging back they will amaze the most skeptical human. Meanwhile, keep shoes up along with anything else that is not a chew toy. Give positive reinforcement and praise in a happy voice they will love. Keep a small treat on hand as a reward for proper potty power.

Accidents seen while the puppy is in the act only need a 'no' and a tap of the shoe on the floor." Any yelling will make potty training for puppies a nervous experience. It does not do any good to correct a puppy after the fact. Just quietly clean up. Be sure to use puppy pads or newspaper in an area indoors where the puppy is allowed to go to the bathroom. It is always good to have this alternative to outdoors just if there is a delay in getting home. If your puppy does its business on your carpet be sure to scrub well to eliminate any lingering scent.

Crate training works well for new puppies and can help provide a sanctuary. Some people keep their new puppies in a crate, while at work. While this might work for some types of dogs, puppies may have a difficult time holding on. It may be better to allow them to be in an area where it is okay to go potty. It is best not to put newspapers or puppy pads next to a crate when doing potty training puppies. This is because of the smell factor, resulting in the fact that they do not want to sleep next to bad smells.

Try to keep puppies on a schedule as much as possible. When potty training puppies they should go outside after meals and naps. Spending time outdoors on a daily basis also gives puppies and their people much needed exercise. It's a good idea ncorporate trips out with puppy time. One last little tip for single people is that a puppy can attract people. Why not have a little fun with that?
