Who hasn’t sacrificed a newspaper, a pillow or the leg of a chair to there pets chewing routine. Even though your question is “how do I halt my dog from chewing” it should really be “how can I redirect the chewing pattern of my dog”.

One option is the scat mat. Scatter them around in the areas that you want your dog to avoid. Don’t worry the scat mat is basically harmless.
You can also try applying “bitters” or something like that on the items that he has been known to ches on. Your local pet store may have these things. These ideas may be way out there but they are other ideas.
Remember, dogs are going to chew, just try to direct the chewing towards the proper objects.
